These two images should be in opposite order. “Picture to Burn” (the source of the gif) was recorded in 2006 and released as a single (with accompanying video) in January 2008. The NOH8 Campaign began in 2009 in response to the November 2008 passage of Proposition 8.

N.B. This chronological correction alone does not suffice as an argument that Swift has “learned her lesson” nor as an excuse for the quoted song lyric. It is not intended to be.

Edited to add: I went searching for a more exact date for the NOH8 photograph…and discovered that it is actually a photoshop. 

If you’re looking for it in the video: It’s not in the video. It’s in the album version. Though, y’know, mistakes made by 16-year-olds who later show some circumspection about the sentiments expressed are really the worst! And I guess the co-writer (older and theoretically more mature) should get a pass.
