Trae Tha Truth feat. Mark Morrison, Big K.R.I.T., Jadakiss, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B, Tyga, Gudda Gudda, and Bun B, “I’m On 2.0” (prod. by Cy Fyre) (Internet, 2012)

  • I guess this was always a “Return of the Mack” sample and I didn’t realize it? If so, I have figured out why I loved “I’m On,” and this is so much better than the hybrid remake/cover from 2011 that I’m not even going to look up that one to link it.
  • Trae basically spits a verse that is maybe eight degrees off the vector of his original verse, including the stupid echoed vocals, but he does call himself “Babe Truth.”
  • Jada comes with the “New York Rap” flow.
  • Real remixes with awesome things like Mark Morrison singing and funky warbling synths need to happen more often.
  • Cole sounds sort of excited to be here, which is neat, but “My new shit dumber” is a threat, isn’t it?
  • My favorite rapper of 2011 over one of my favorite beats of 2011 starts at 2:47, and he does more with eight bars than most rappers do with their lives.
  • B.o.B sounds like Lupe here. I … yeah.
  • Tyga doing math!
  • Good thing Gudda Gudda is a) alive and b) being thrown on remixes to tell us things like “Went from trappin’ in a rental to rappin’ on instrumentals” that no rapper has ever said before, huh?
  • Speaking of rappers who have said things before: Hi, Bun. (His verse is pretty good, but every Bun verse has sounded the same since Trill O.G. devalued the mic forever.)
